Offensive events represent all actions where a player attempts to directly create or finish a scoring opportunity. These events capture the final phase of attacking play and measure how teams convert possession into goal-scoring chances. Offensive events include shots, one-on-one situations, penalties, and direct attempts from set pieces such as corners or free kicks. By tracking these events, analysts can evaluate shot quality, attacking efficiency, finishing ability, and chance creation. Each offensive event records an Event Result, describing what happened after the attempt.

Event Results

  • Goal — The ball successfully enters the goal.
  • On Target — The shot is directed toward the goal and would score without goalkeeper intervention.
  • Off Target — The shot misses the goal entirely.
  • Bars — The shot hits the goal frame (crossbar or post).
  • Blocked — A defender blocks the shot before it reaches the goal.

Event Extras

Extra attributes describe how the shot was taken or its context.
  • Left — The shot was taken with the left foot.
  • Right — The shot was taken with the right foot.
  • Header — The shot was taken with the head.
  • Other — Any other body part or unusual shooting technique.
