Player Positions

The KoraStats platform uses a standardized set of position codes to classify the tactical role of each player on the field.

These position identifiers are used throughout the system for:
  • match lineups
  • event attribution
  • tactical analysis
  • statistical aggregation
  • positional performance metrics
Each position is represented by a short code and a full descriptive name.
Position codes provide a consistent way to represent tactical roles across competitions, teams, and match datasets.

Positional Flexibility

Modern football tactics allow players to operate across multiple roles depending on:
  • team formation
  • match strategy
  • phase of play
For example:
FormationExample Roles
4-3-3RW, LW, CF
4-2-3-1RAM, AM, LAM
3-5-2RCF, LCF
Because of this, the KoraStats system allows players to be associated with multiple positional classifications across different matches.

Summary

The standardized position taxonomy enables consistent analysis of:
  • player performance by role
  • positional heatmaps
  • tactical formations
  • lineup structures
These position codes serve as the foundation for tactical analysis and statistical comparisons within the KoraStats platform.
