Possession events form the foundation of match analysis because they capture how players interact with the ball during attacking and build-up phases. They allow analysts to evaluate passing patterns, ball progression, individual technical actions, and mistakes that may lead to scoring opportunities for the opponent.
Each possession event can include two types of attributes:

Event Results

Event results describe whether the action was successfully completed.
  • Success — The player successfully completed the action and maintained possession.
  • Fail — The player attempted the action but failed, resulting in loss of possession or unsuccessful execution.

Event Extras

Extra attributes provide additional analytical context to the action.
  • Assist — The action directly led to a goal.
  • Key Pass — The action created a clear scoring opportunity.
  • Error L2G — (Error Lead to Goal) The action resulted in an error that directly led to a goal.
  • Error L2O — (Error Lead to Opportunity) The action resulted in an error that led to a dangerous scoring opportunity.
