KIndex

KIndex is built on the principle that every touch counts, and that player performance should be evaluated through the cumulative impact of all football actions during a match.
Philosophy of the Model
Modern football performance is multi-dimensional.A player’s influence cannot be fully understood through a single statistic or isolated event. The KIndex model therefore adopts a holistic evaluation framework, where performance is measured through:
- Defensive contributions such as interceptions, tackles, and goal-saving interventions
- Possession actions including passing efficiency, dribbles, and ball retention
- Offensive production such as goals, assists, and key passes
- Match discipline and participation, including playing time and fouls
Match-Based Evaluation
KIndex ratings are calculated on a per-match basis. During a match, all recorded events performed by a player are converted into performance points according to predefined evaluation criteria. The total points accumulated by the player represent their raw match impact score, which is then converted into a standardized KIndex rating. Decimal fractions are intentionally ignored during scoring calculations to maintain consistency and ensure that the rating reflects clear performance thresholds. Objective Performance Measurement
The primary objective of KIndex is to provide a transparent and objective framework for evaluating player performance. By translating football actions into a structured scoring model, KIndex allows analysts, coaches, and decision-makers to:- compare player performances within a match
- evaluate consistency across multiple matches
- measure contributions across different playing positions
- identify impactful actions beyond traditional statistics
A Unified Performance Indicator
The final KIndex rating serves as a single performance indicator summarizing a player’s overall influence on the match. This unified score simplifies complex match data into a format that can be easily interpreted while still preserving the analytical depth behind the underlying event model. The result is a rating system capable of highlighting:- exceptional performances
- consistent contributors
- decisive match-winning actions
- defensive resilience and tactical discipline
Structure of the KIndex Model
The KIndex framework is built upon three fundamental components:Performance Metrics
A structured set of football actions used to evaluate player performance across all phases of the game.
Point Allocation
Each action performed during a match contributes positive or negative points depending on its impact.
Rating Conversion
Accumulated points are converted into the final KIndex rating through a calibrated scoring scale.
